A Napoleon is a rich, elegant dessert pastry consisting of thin crisp sheets of puff pastry layered with a creamy filling or whipped cream. The top may be glazed with a thin frosting. It is unclear whether Napoleons originated in France, Italy or Denmark. They are oblong in shape and just large enough for one serving.
